Phases

Landon School educates children and young people from age 5 to 18, organised into three phases: Primary (ages 5 to 11), Secondary (ages 11 to 16) and Post-16 (ages 16 to 18).

The phases give structure and age-appropriate expectations to our pupils' journey through school, while our three curriculum pathways – Explore, Semi-Formal and Formal – ensure that learning within each phase is matched to how each pupil learns best. A pupil's class is planned around both their phase and their pathway, so that content is always age-respectful and developmentally right.

Whatever the phase, some things never change: small classes with high staffing ratios, communication and self-regulation at the centre of the day (using the SCERTS framework), therapy woven into learning, and an unwavering focus on preparing every pupil for the fullest possible adult life.

Use the pages in this section to explore what learning looks like in each phase.
