School Development Plan

This page provides an overview of our school development plan for the academic year 2025-2025.

Our Vision for Excellence

At Landon School, we are committed to continuous improvement and innovation in specialist education. Our development plan reflects our ambition to be recognised as a leading specialist school, providing each student with the best possible life they can lead.

Underpinned by our ethos of ‘Safe, Happy, Learning’, our strategic priorities guide everything we do as we grow and develop as a school community.

Our Values

Three core values drives our work:

  • Caring – supporting every child with compassion and dedication
  • Student-Centred – placing learners at the heart of all we do
  • Ambitious – maintaining high expectations for all pupils to reach their maximum potential

Our Strategic Priorities

Our development focuses on six key areas that drive excellence across the school:

Quality of Education

We deliver an outstanding, personalised curriculum that maximises progress for every pupil. Through our tiered pathway system and comprehensive assessment approaches, we ensure each child receives teaching tailored to their individual needs. As we expand our provision to include secondary and post-16 education, we are developing enriched opportunities for preparation for adulthood and accredited learning pathways.

Communication and Interaction

Every child deserves effective means to communicate their needs, choices, and ideas. We embed total communication approaches including Makaton, PECS, and AAC throughout our curriculum, supported by specialist speech and language therapy. Our communication-rich environments with visual supports help every child find their voice.

Personal Development and Wellbeing

We develop independence, emotional regulation, and life skills to prepare our students for successful futures. Through our comprehensive life skills curriculum, targeted sensory regulation programmes, and embedded therapeutic support, we help each child develop the capabilities they need. Our enrichment programme provides diverse experiences through clubs, residentials, and community visits.

Behavior and Safeguarding

We maintain exemplary safeguarding practice and create calm, predictable environments where children feel safe. Our trauma-informed, positive behaviour support approaches help pupils develop emotional regulation skills. Multi-agency safeguarding protocols and regular staff training ensure the highest standards of child protection.

Leadership and Staff Development

Our pupils deserve the very best specialist practitioners. We invest in recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding staff through comprehensive CPD programmes, clear career pathways, and strong wellbeing support. As we grow, we are building leadership capacity at all levels to ensure sustained excellence.

Partnership and Community

We work in genuine partnership with families and external agencies to support each child’s success. Through structured family engagement, effective multi-agency working, and strong community links, we create a network of support around every pupil. We value parent voice and actively seek feedback to continuously improve our provision.

Our Growth Journey

Since opening in October 2024, Landon School has grown from strength to strength, achieving an Outstanding Ofsted rating. We are now expanding our provision to include secondary and post-16 education, ensuring pupils can continue their learning journey with us through to age 18.

This expansion is carefully planned and quality-assured at every stage. We are committed to sustainable growth that maintains the exceptional standards our families expect, whilst creating more opportunities for children with autism and severe learning difficulties across West London.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Our Advisory Board provides robust governance and oversight, regularly reviewing progress against our strategic priorities. We gather evidence from multiple sources including pupil progress data, learning walks, staff and parent surveys, and external quality assurance to ensure we are meeting our aims.

Every decision we make prioritises pupil outcomes and wellbeing. We remain evidence-based in our practice, collaborative with families and agencies, and ambitious in our expectations for every child.

Looking Forward

Our development plan is a living document that evolves as we grow. It reflects our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional specialist education where every child is safe, happy, and learning.

We welcome parents and carers to discuss any aspect of our strategic direction. Together, we can ensure each child reaches their maximum potential and builds the foundation for a successful future.
